As a graduate student at the University of Michigan (American Culture / Museum Studies), I joined Maria Cotera and Fronteras Norteñas to create El Museo del Norte.
With a seed-grant from the Rackham Program in Public Scholarship (then called Arts of Citizenship), I organized stakeholder meetings, site visits, conversations with museum directors, and a community forum. I also built a mailing list, created a report documenting all our work, above, posters and other visual materials, including one of the museum’s first exhibits, “Giving Form to Vision,”a timeline of the more-than-30-year effort to document Latina/o life in Michigan.
